Software is increasingly written by AI and directed by people. We build the layer in between — the one that keeps what gets built aligned with what the people directing it actually intended.
Why we exist
AI writes code faster than any team can review it. What it cannot do is know what you decided last quarter, why you decided it, or which of your standards are non-negotiable. That knowledge lives in people, in documents nobody reads at the moment of writing, and in decisions that were never written down at all.
The gap between how fast AI generates and how well it understands your intent is where products quietly drift away from what they were meant to be. Closing that gap is the whole of what this company works on.
That gap shows up on a solo developer's laptop and inside teams whose code has to survive a security or federal compliance review — and we build for both ends of that range. The same tooling that keeps AI aligned to an individual developer's intent is built so the audit trail a NIST 800-53 or ATO review asks for comes out of ordinary work, rather than a separate compliance project bolted on at the end.

Four commitments that shape what we ship and what we refuse to.
We govern our own work with our own tooling
x-Arbiter runs on x-Arbiter. Every rule, hook, and review that would apply to a customer applies to us first. If a governance idea cannot survive being pointed at ourselves, it is not ready to ship to anyone else.
Claims do not outrun implementation
We describe what is built, not what is planned. When something is unreleased we say so plainly, in the place where you would otherwise assume otherwise — not in a footnote.
The human stays in charge
We build AI infrastructure and we are explicit about who decides. The human sets direction and holds the override; the AI executes inside it and declares ambiguity rather than quietly filling it.
Your work stays yours
Enforcement runs locally. Code does not leave the machine it was written on. That constrains what we can build, and we accept the constraint rather than designing around it.
Where we are
Ghost Works LLC is an independent, pre-revenue software company. Our first product has not shipped. We are stating that here rather than letting a polished site imply otherwise, because a company that builds governance tooling should be the last one to overstate its own position.
